The File 'Asms' On Windows XP Professional CD-ROM Is Needed


i don't know what exactly was the solution but now my setup continues exactly the way it should...at first i had done a fresh format and setup of xp when at This is an Xp but what is a CDR? I also have usb first in my boot order4. I have a friend who cannot get her computer to start up. check over here

As I said, even if you are not experiencing a major issue with your DVD/CD drive, go there and get it checked out to make sure it is healthy.

Making the install FIND the CD at this point in the installation seems to be the trick.Your milage may vary, but pounding on the CD player just might work, too!Good luck. Keep on hitting F8 until a message appear that says "To boot from cd, press any key." Press key.That should reinstall the disk smoothly. I know it doesn't seem like it would work but after 8 hrs of messing with this issue, this is what finaly did the trick.I changed the drive letter to "d:\i386". see this None worked.What did work was I took the tablet out of its dock.
